Performance Indicators

The composed figures result from consolidating the values of all significant engineering and production sites. The data is regularly recorded and is used for internal monitoring of our environmental performance indicators. The trends derived from the data and information are indicative of our how successful our sustainability policies are.

The impacts on the environment are measured by analysing the different areas of air, water, waste and material resources.

Chemicals
The equipment is mostly cleaned without using chemicals. Highpressure cleaning replaces environmentally harmful chemicals. The concrete additives and shuttering oils are integrated into the products.

Binding agents
The cement is procured from sites that are as close to our factories as possible, and is transported by silo trucks, meaning that there are no dust emissions. The increased use of binding agents is necessary for higher quality products.

Additives
Additives are used in order to decrease the use of binding agents, to improve workability and to enhance product quality.

Shuttering oils
Form oils are release agents that prevent the concrete from adhering to the forms. Ongoing training programmes have led to increased reductions of its use.

Water and wastewater
Wherever possible the water is drawn from the Company's own wells. Process water is purified on site and recycled into the production cycle. Wastewater is produced almost entirely by staff facilities. It is discharged to the public sewer network or treated in on-site biological plants.

Waste
The only significant waste stream in volume terms is the rubble, at about 5% of total output. Some 95% of this waste is crushed and recycled.

The disposal of industrial waste and hazardous substances is restricted to officially approved disposal companies, and we ensure that all the official regulations and recording requirements are complied with.
