Environmental Report

Our mission is to create long-term value from natural, sustainable products. Concrete is the most used construction material globally. The energy consumed to make it is comparatively low compared with the production of other materials, especially in relation to the product’s durability. Concrete’s long lifespan is an important sustainability factor, which is additionally characterised by low maintenance costs and comparably low energy consumption. As a result, SW Umwelttechnik places great emphasis on short transport routes and the effective use of resources, thus, making it able to reduce its CO2 emissions in production.

Concrete predominantly consists of natural components, such as gravel, sand, water and cement and additives. All these components are available in the regions where our works are located.

We offer sustainability over the entire production cycle: rejects are refed into the production cycle as recycled concrete, complementing  our main components. SW Umwelttechnik places great weight on the responsible and careful use of the resources and on avoiding and recycling waste. We use highly efficient and self-cleaning filter systems to reduce dust emissions.

The water necessary for production is pumped from recycling facilities and raised to the amounts required via additional freshwater or rainwater, as available. Resources are brought together in the mixing unit, where they are mixed with additives and recycled solids and transported to processing machines after the mixing process.

The machines and moulding equipment are cleaned on a daily basis. The cleaning water that runs off is also treated in recycling systems for reuse in the mixing unit. Any rejects and production waste are also fed into the recycling system, if possible. Any waste that cannot be recycled within our production processes will be taken back to our suppliers, who recycle problematic waste and reuse it as raw materials.

The semi-finished products are transported to our assembling locations and testing facilities. This is where the installation and supplementary parts are assembled and the appropriate testing is conducted. Subsequently, the products are taken to our storage locations where they are loaded onto trucks or trains to be shipped to our customers.
